One of the most promising young artist of Tabla in the UK and a superb & committed
teacher too.
Shabaz is a UK born Tabla wizard from Rochdale. He started learning
from his late father Ustad Mumtaz Hussain a prominent vocalist. at the
age of 5. He
is a disciple of Ustad Faiyaz Khan of the Delhi Gharana School. He
has also studied further with done major performances with the late Ustad
Shaukat
Hussain Khan from the Punjab Gharana and the late Ustad
Allah Rakha Khan.
Shahbaz Hussain has performed at some of the top musical venues
around the world such as the Royal Albert Hall, and the Smithsonian Institute.
As well as performing solo around the world, he has played with
many of the most aclaimed masters of indian classical music including Ustad
Fateh Ali Khan,
Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Ustad Nishat Khan,
Ustad Salamat Ali Khan and
Ustad Imrat Khan
Shabhbaz Hussain is recognised for his exceptional ability on Tabla
ranging from impressive traditional skills to contemporay styles.
But although he enjoys many other styles of music he is committed to indian classical
music, believing that this great tradition will only flourish through work
such as that done by Gurukul.
