As well as the pleasure gained from studying such a rich musical heritage, Indian Classical Music offers a unique way of viewing music that can cross fertilise other musical fields -the most famous example of which being the Beatles in the 1960's For the western, classically trained musician, Indian Classical Music, offers structured help in understanding the proccess of improvisation, interpretation and individual creativity within music. The blues, jazz or rock musician, can find new sources of inspiration and take advantage of the ancient teaching methodologies by which Indian Classical Music has retained it's cutting freshness over the milleneums. Finally, even the DJ can learn about unfamilar rythms and beats and, more importantly, how these ancient rythms can enhance and alter the emotional states of the listener. Gurukul has special programs for teaching other musicians, that acknowledge their exisiting expertise in music - A attitude of repect that has engendered many collaborative ventures.
