Tabla

The tabla is a drum-pair with bass and treble drum played one with each hand. The goat skin has a thick black disk in it made from flour, ferric, oxid powder and starch.

Sitar

The sitar has, for over 100 years been India's most favoured indian classical string instrument. It is a plucked string instrument.

Bansuri

The bansuri or bamboo flute is one of the oldest Indian instruments. It has developed from being a favourite in popular music to being widely used in classical.

Esraj

The Esraj is a fusion of the saringda and the sitar. The main body of the instrument is like that of a saringda whilst it has a neck and strings like the sitar.

Santoor

The Santoor was introduced into Indian Classical Music in the 15th Century. A flat instrument made from a wooden box with many strings played with metal forks.

Harmonium

The harmonium is a Western instrument adapted for Indian music. The musician plays 42 black and white keys with the right hand and activates its bellow with the left.
